Located between Coronel Oscar Rafael Jost Street and Galvão Costa Street, Imigrante Avenue is approximately a 3-minute drive from downtown Santa Cruz do Sul and it was opened during the first term of mayor Arno Frantz, between 1977 and 1982.
Initially, the area was a large floodplain, and the residents of what is now Santo Inácio District claimed for a connection to the downtown area. In response to this need, the mayor came up with a solution: canalize the floodplain and create an avenue. However, in the middle of the Avenue there was still a streamlet. It was between 1989 and 1992, during Arnos’ second term in office, that the streamlet was covered up with the revitalization of the area. During this process and afterwards, urban equipment was installed and the area was landscaped. The revitalization included new benches in the leisure areas, planters and better lighting, providing a pleasant environment for the community, making it a residental and commercial area. In May 2023, new renovations were completed on the Road.
For the residents, Imigrante Avenue is not just a road, but also a space for physical activity and gatherings.
