HISTORICAL BUILDING
URBAN AREA

Located at 773 Borges de Medeiros Street, in downtown Santa Cruz do Sul, the CAZCOLab coworking occupies a building dating back to approximately 1882. Originally, this construction served as a residence for the owners of the Schreiner Foundry, with the factory located in the same block. History tells that, at the time, there were no accommodations available for workers coming from outside Brazil, a situation that led the family to adapt the second floor of the house to accommodate these workers. Thus, the second floor was segmented into rooms, sharing a communal bathroom, reflecting a practical solution to the need for lodging.

Over the years, the house underwent various transformations: it was sold and supposedly served as both a residence for nuns and a space for religious retreats for young people. After a period of abandonment, it is now revitalized, housing the CAZCOLab coworking space. The CAZCOLab coworking preserves the original architecture and highlights the construction techniques of the time, preserving its aesthetic beauty. Previously, the space also housed a hostel, showcasing its tradition of being a welcoming place.

Today, transformed into a space for collaboration and creativity, the CAZCOLab offers a variety of environments designed to meet the needs of the contemporary job market. In addition to a communal kitchen, where users can prepare meals and socialize, the place offers a meeting room, ideal for workshops, training sessions, corporate events, and individual meeting rooms.
